DRAFT I ACAOM Accreditation Standards for First-Professional Doctoral Programs in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine We are pleased to share the first draft of proposed accreditation standards for First-Professional Doctoral Programs. As you may know, ACAOM established a Doctoral Task Force to develop a comprehensive set of accreditation standards that would focus on institutional, program and student learning outcomes expected of first-professional doctoral programs of the highest quality. The Task Force is composed of representatives of the national AOM organizations, including the American Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (“AAAOM”), the Federation of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine Regulatory Agencies (“FAOMRA”), the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (“CCAOM”), the National Federation of Chinese TCM Organizations (“NFCTCMO”), and the World Federation of TCM Societies (“WFTCMS”). The product of this collaborative work is now available for your review. Please take this opportunity to read the draft carefully and submit your comments in the accompanying textboxes. We would also welcome any recommendations for wording that you think would add clarity or more accurately convey the intent of the standards. After the ACAOM Standards and Criteria Committee reviews your feedback from the first draft, we will be making appropriate revisions. A second draft will be available for your comments and input at a later date. Our goal is to conclude this work by the summer of 2008. Thank you for your participation in the accreditation process.
